Piers Morgan pays tribute to 'all time great' Jack Charlton as he dies aged 85

Piers Morgan has heralded Jack Charlton as an 'all time great' after the football legend's death at the age of 85.

It was revealed on Saturday morning that the Geordie centre half who recorded 773 appearances in a career spanning more than two decades at Leeds, winning the First and Second Division titles, the FA Cup, League Cup, Charity Shield, Fairs Cup and World Cup, had passed away and there have now been scores of tributes to the man affectionately dubbed 'Big Jack.'

And one of those has come from Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, who has made two posts about the Ashington-born player, nephew of NUFC great Jackie Milburn.

The first saw Piers share a photo of Jack holding the 1966 World Cup trophy, to which the outspoken presenter captioned with the words: "World Cup winner with his brother Bobby & one of the all-time greats of British football. A fantastic character too - funny, warm, honest & authentic. Very sad news."

Piers then shared a video of Jack paying tribute to his World Cup-winning brother Bobby at the BBC Sports Personality of The Year event and wrote: "So moving. Incredible that England’s only won the World Cup once & two of the players were brothers. Deepest condolences to Sir Bobby."
