Piers Morgan offers to pay parking tickets of NHS health workers who get fined during the crisis

Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has offered to pay the parking tickets of any NHS health workers who get fined at hospitals they're working at during the coronavirus crisis.

The ITV host made the generous offer on this morning's GMB show during a rant about NHS staff having to pay for their parking when they arrive for work.

Piers, along with many others, has been calling on the Government to waive car-parking fees as doctors, nurses and healthcare staff work around the clock to help patients suffering with Covid-19.

Speaking on the show, Piers said: "I will say now to any health worker during the future of this crisis, however long it lasts, if any of you get a parking ticket at a hospital where you're working, I will pay it for you.

"I will pay it and I will then go to the government and have the battle, you don't get involved.

"Send it in to Good Morning Britain and I will pay the parking ticket, if that's what it takes."

Following his announcement his co-host Susanna Reid, who is currently self-isolating at home, tweeted: "BREAKING: @piersmorgan offers to pay the parking tickets of any NHS health worker who gets fined during this crisis.

"Says he will be the one who goes into battle with authorities who enforce them."

Good Morning Britain airs every morning at 6am on ITV.
