Piers Morgan 'offered a new job' on live TV by broadcaster Andrew Neil

Piers Morgan has been 'offered a job' by broadcaster Andrew Neil live on telly following his shock departure from Good Morning Britain.

Andrew who is about to launch news channel GB News said he would be 'delighted' to have a conversation Piers.

Piers quit Good Morning Britain last night after it was revealed that ITV had received over 41,000 complaints from Ofcom over his Meghan Markle comments.

It was also revealed the Duchess of Sussex complained to ITV to raise concerns Piers' words might affect those struggling with mental health.

Piers refused to apologise following his clash with weatherman Alex Beresford, citing 'freedom of speech' and ended his six-year run on the programme.

Paisley born broadcaster Andrew told BBC News he would like to talk with Piers.

He said: "Well, Piers would be a huge asset to GB news and we’ll definitely look at that.

"We haven’t started any negotiations yet.

"We would certainly be delighted to talk to him if he’s up for it."

Andrew said Piers' departure from ITV was 'a pity' for ITV because of the 'energy, dynamism and controversy' he brought to Good Morning Britain.

He said: "It had always lagged way behind the BBC breakfast time show and people tuned in because of him.

He went on: "It reminded me of the old days of Newsnight. People tuned in if Jeremy Paxman was doing it.

"If he wasn’t doing it it wasn't so exciting and the same is true of GMB.

"It's a real problem now for ITV that they've lost him. The programme this morning was much more run of the mill, low key, kind of ordinary, so it's going to be difficult for them to replace him."

He added: "Could we find a role for Piers Morgan? Of course we could – any network worth it’s salt could find a role for a broadcaster of his calibre."

GB News will launch sometime this month and the channel will be in full operation this year.

Piers said of his departure this morning: "I think it's fair to say, although the woke crowd will think that they've cancelled me, I think they will be rather disappointed when I re-emerge. I would call it a temporary hibernation."
