Piers Morgan mocks Boris Johnson on GMB after parking charges for NHS staff are set to resume

Piers Morgan launched a scathing attack on the governments choice to reintroduce parking charges for NHS staff, before mocking the Prime Minister.

Appearing on the show alongside Susanna Reid, Piers blasted the choice to reintroduce the charges, which will see most NHS staff have to pay to park at hospitals.

"For years, we've said on this programme, this should never be happening anyway," said Piers, staring down the barrel of the camera.

He added: "It seems to me utterly ridiculous that doctors, nurses and surgeons and everyone else in the health care system, have to pay for the privilege of going to hospitals to save our lives.

Piers Morgan mocked the Prime Minister for clapping, just days before the announcement parking charged for NHS staff would resume (ITV | GMB)

"This struck me as completely ridiculous and particularly obscene when there's a global pandemic strikes this country and they're risking their own lives.

"We know several hundred NHS workers have died, risking their lives for us, so what's their reward?

"Their reward is they're going to charge all the people who work in our health system for parking again at hospitals.

"You have to pay for the privilege of risking your life!"

You can see more of Piers' rant in the video above and the moment he mocks Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

After speaking for almost five minutes, Piers took aim at the Prime Minister and went on to mock him live on air:

"Are we going to go back and charge them for the right to park at a hospital? If that's the way, we as a country, think we should treat our NHS heroes, then it's not a country I want to be a part of.

"I don't believe that's what most British people want, and once again the government is completely tone deaf."

Piers then launched his attack on Boris Johnson, imitating his voice as a clip of the Prime Minister clapping for the 72nd Birthday of the NHS:

"I don't want anymore videos of these people clapping for the NHS and care workers... there he is, look!

"'Fantastic people, fantastic people, now, can we get back to charging them again?'"

A poll ran through the Good Morning Britain Twitter channel asked users whether NHS parking charges should resume.

In just 1 hour of the poll being launched, more than 9,000 people voted with 90% agreeing with Piers Morgan, that parking charges for NHS staff should remain scrapped.

Good Morning Britain returns every weekday morning from 6am.
