Piers Morgan moans he's 'been cruelly ignored' by Queen in Birthday Honours list

Piers Morgan has moaned he's "been cruelly ignored" by the Queen after being left out of the Birthday Honours list.

The gripe came after Piers, 55, and his Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid congratulated their colleague  Dr Hilary Jones, 67, who landed an MBE when the honours were announced on Friday.

Susanna, 49, said well done to Dr Hilary, telling viewers: "He's been given an MBE by the Queen for his services to practically everybody frankly during the pandemic.

Piers then asked: "How does it work do you get phoned up? Do you get a letter? I’ve obviously been cruelly ignored."

Dr Hilary agreed with him, adding: "You have."

He then explained: "I was thrilled obviously, but humbled as well because certainly the last year, I’m aware that so many more people are deserving, more deserving than me of an honour from the Queen.

"There's been people who have sacrificed their lives and put their lives on the line."

Dr Hilary went on to reveal that although he has been flooded with messages of congratulations, he's also been targeted by trolls.

He said: "People that disagree with my opinions over the pandemic have been quite vile with their messaging.

"We all know that people remember the one message that is horrible, that’s the one you look at."

Susanna told him he has been a "very calming and very measured" and added of the trolls: "I’m sorry about that. What is wrong with people?"

Piers agreed adding: "There’s a lot of morons out there."

Dr Hilary Jones was announced as an MBE for Services to Broadcasting, Public Health, Information and Charity.

He was joined by fellow ITV veteran Lorraine Kelly, who has been awarded a CBE for Services to Broadcasting, Journalism and Charity.
