Piers Morgan loves 'annoying' ex-colleague Charlotte Hawkins as the two keep in touch

Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins joked about how Piers Morgan manages to 'annoy' her when they talk.

The 46-year-old revealed that she still keeps in touch with the former host - who left earlier this year following a heated row.

He sensationally quit after things took a turn following comments he made about Meghan Markle.

She said to Prima: “Piers Morgan and I still keep in touch. We met up the other day and he’d sent me a text beforehand saying he was looking forward to being able to annoy me again.

“It’s that mischievousness I love about Piers, and he does manage to annoy in a way no-one else can.”

Since January, Charlotte - who has been part of GMB since 2014 - anchors the first half-hour of the ITV morning show on certain weekdays.

Meanwhile, Piers joined the team in 2015 and was a controversial member until his departure in 2021.

He had refused to apologise for his outbursts about The Duchess of Sussex, particularly in the wake of her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Since he walked out on the show, when it had just nudged ahead of BBC Breakfast in the ratings, viewing figures tumbled and bosses were reportedly panicking and wanted to get him back.

Last month, Lorraine Kelly teased the possibility of his return to GMB.

Speaking to The Sun, Lorraine said: "He will be back in some shape or form, I have no doubt.

"I know nothing, but never count him out of anything."

Lorraine added: "I wouldn't be surprised if he came back. Nothing would surprise me about Piers."

Speaking in a newspaper interview after the drama, Piers also claimed that ITV had been asking him to return.

"They reached out - there have been approaches. Never say never," he revealed.

"I have no doubt I could take the ratings back to where I left them - but the doubt is, would anyone be allowed to do it that way again?

"I was hired to give very strong, honestly held opinions, which I did. But in the end, I was asked to apologise for a genuinely held opinion," he told The Sun.
