Piers Morgan launches savage attack on 'hypocrite' Kim Kardashian and 'sickening' Met Gala

Piers Morgan has called out a slew of famous faces from Kim Kardashian to Emily Ratajkowski in a no-holds barred rant about Monday's Met Gala.

This year the esteemed fashion extravaganza honoured the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, with celebrities paying homage to the Chanel star an array of show-stopping outfits.

Dressed in pearls and diamonds, the likes of Kim, 42 and Emily, 31, won praise for sticking faithfully to the dress code, but according to Piers, 58, the women are 'sickening hypocrites' for attending the event because of what Karl stood for.

Recalling a string of controversies Lagerfield has been linked to over the years from having his models in blackface to slamming gay marriage, Piers said it was 'shocking' to see the celebrity support.

He also pointed out that Lagerfield had been critical of Kim Kardashian directly.

Writing an opinion piece for the New York Post, Piers recalled how Karl publicly blamed the SKIMS star for suffering a violent robbery in Paris in 2016, when he said she 'should expect it after flaunting her wealth on Instagram' in The Telegraph.

"Yet that didn’t stop her from also joining the tribute to the man who publicly shamed her," Piers quipped.

Next on Piers' hit list was supermodel Emily, who has been vocal about the #MeToo movement, saying women need to be listened to after dealing with predatory men.

However, Piers asked: "So why was she prancing down the red carpet in a Lagerfeld-style tribute gown when he once said about #MeToo: “What shocks me most in all of this are the starlets who have taken 20 years to remember what happened, not to mention the fact there are no prosecution witnesses?"

Emily has also asked for all female body shapes to be respected, but the presenter pointed out Karl once said: “No one wants to see curvy women. These are fat mummies sitting with their bags of crisps in front of the television, saying that thin models are ugly.”

Piers also took aim at actress Margot Robbie who arrived dressed in a Chanel gown made famous by Cindy Crawford.
Robbie has previously been vocal about supporting gay marriage, campaigning to make it legal in her native Australia, which is something Lagerfield spoke against.

"In 2016, she went on Saturday Night Live in a T-shirt promoting same-sex marriage that said “Say I Do, Down Under” with a map of Australia in rainbow colours.

"That same year, Lagerfeld lashed out against gay marriage and gay couples adopting children.

"Why would she feel such an ‘honor’ celebrating a man with those views?" asked Piers.

As well as his contributions to fashion working with the likes of Chanel and Fendi, Lagerfield became known as much for a number of highly controversial opinions he publicly aired over the years.
Lagerfield hit the headlines for his comments on LGBTQ rights and the MeToo movement as well as his body-shaming and fat-phobia.
Joining Piers in blasting a celebration of his life and legacy, former T4 presenter Jameela Jamil called the late designer “distinctly hateful”.

“This man... was indeed, supremely talented, but used his platform in such a distinctly hateful way, mostly towards women, so repeatedly and up until the last years of his life, showing no remorse, offering no atonement, no apology, no help to groups he attacked... there was no explanation for his cruel outbursts,” Jamil wrote.
