Piers Morgan jokes 'lucky' wife Celia is sleeping in spare room after moaning about him

Piers Morgan jested his wife Celia Walden was in the spare room after moaning about waking up to him every day.

Speaking on TODAY, the outspoken presenter playfully took aim at his wife for complaining about waking up with him now he had quit Good Morning Britain.

Instead Piers cheekily insisted Celia was "the luckiest woman in Britain" because she gets to spend lots of time with him now he's not working an early morning rota.

He said: "Well, it is extraordinary, isn't it? You've got millions of Brits who are in mourning because they can't wake up to me in the morning.

"And there's my wife, who's the luckiest woman in Britain, who gets to do it every day, and yet she seems to see this as some kind of terrible thing in our lives. Obviously now she's in the spare room."

In jest, TODAY presenter Ally Langdon sympathised with Celia leaving Piers pretending to be outraged.

Ally said: "Your poor wife, Piers. Oh, my gosh."

To which, an amused Piers responded: "Poor wife? She's the luckiest woman in Britain! What are you talking about?"

It comes after Piers gave an explosive interview to 60 Minutes in Australia about Meghan which aired over the weekend.

Recently, Celia playfully asked TV bosses to give her husband a job.

The journalist joked the only reason she was "sad" her husband quit Good Morning Britain was because she wakes up to him every day staring at her in the morning.

She told The Sun : “This is the only reason I am sad about him leaving GMB — well, that and the fact I wake up and there he is, staring back at me morning after morning.

“But really, he used to come back and by 9am was absolutely flattened, lying there on the sofa, catatonic, not bothering anyone.

“Unfortunately he’s got all his energy back now. Please, someone, just give him a job!"

Piers has yet to be snapped up by TV bosses after he sensationally quit Good Morning Britain.

His exit come just hours after he stormed off set over a row about Meghan Markle.

Piers championed freedom of speech, quitting instead of apologising to the Duchess of Sussex after she lodged an official complaint about him saying he didn't believe a word of her Oprah interview.
