Piers Morgan has taken to Twitter to joke he should just "storm back" onto the Good Morning Britain set after being cleared by broadcast regulator Ofcom.
The former presenter left the show in the spring after a fiery episode in which he walked off during an explosive rant about Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Piers returned to finish the show, but was later forced to step down from his job amid a raging backlash over his comments.
Yesterday, the show was cleared of breaking the broadcasting code and rumours began circulating that Piers could make a comeback.
However, the talk was dismissed by ITV and Piers has now insisted he could just "storm back".
He retweeted an article suggesting ITV bosses having no plans to bring him back and added: "Maybe I should just storm back in...."
It was announced yesterday that Piers and GMB were cleared by Ofcom over the ex-presenter's criticism of Meghan Markle, despite receiving more than 57,000 complaints.
The case was centred around whether Piers questioning of Meghan's account of royal racism and suicidal thoughts was "harmful" and "offensive" to viewers.
An Ofcom spokesperson said of the decision to clear Piers: "This was a finely-balanced decision. Mr Morgan’s comments were potentially harmful and offensive to viewers, and we recognise the strong public reaction to them. But we also took full account of freedom of expression.
"Under our rules, broadcasters can include controversial opinions as part of legitimate debate in the public interest, and the strong challenge to Mr Morgan from other contributors provided important context for viewers.
"Nonetheless, we’ve reminded ITV to take greater care around content discussing mental health and suicide in future. ITV might consider the use of timely warnings or signposting of support services to ensure viewers are properly protected."
When Piers first heard the news that he had been cleared by Ofcom, he tweeted: "BREAKING: @Ofcom rejects all complaints against me over Meghan Markle furore that led to my exit from @GMB.
"Verdict says I was entitled to disbelieve her & Prince Harry & to restrict my right to do so would be a ‘chilling restriction on freedom of expression.’"
ITV later issued a statement on the ruling, which added: "We welcome the Ofcom ruling that Good Morning Britain did not breach the broadcast standards relating to harm and offence,’ the broadcaster said.
"The ruling sets out clearly that it was the balance and context the programme makers provided which was key in mitigating against the potential for harm and offence which could have been caused by Piers Morgan’s comments."
Discussing ITV's statement Piers then tweeted: "Hmmm, ITV have just put out a statement saying I only won the Ofcom case against Princess Pinocchio because my colleagues expressed different opinions to mine.
"That’s not what the Ofcom report says in its conclusion. I suggest ITV reads it again."
Piers broke cover after the news to attend the GQ Awards last night and told reporters he was "delighted" by the outcome.
He also said Ofcom's ruling should make The Duke and Duchess of Sussex "reflect".
