Piers Morgan in talks with Simon Cowell as Alex Beresford breaks his silence on departure

Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell are said to be in talks about a new telly project following Piers departure from Good Morning Britain.

Piers who already was offered a job by Scots broadcaster Andrew Neil on the forthcoming GB News channel, is said to have been inundated with offers since leaving the show over his Meghan Markle comments.

According to reports, Piers met Simon last week, before he even quit the show, to talk about some future work projects.

A source told The Sun : "During their three- hour walk, Piers and Simon discussed the possibility of working together, and the hope is that Piers will come on board. The format needs shaking up, and obviously Piers has form with this."

Piers and Simon have worked together before on Britain's Got Talent.

The news comes as Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford has spoken about Piers departure on Twitter, saying he just wanted him to listen rather than quit the show.

Alex who confronted Piers about his comments, before Piers stormed off on live TV, said: "There is so much that could be said. Piers' departure sincerely wasn't the conclusion I was hoping for.

"Over the last few years, Piers and I have had a lively, cheeky on-air relationship.

"We both wanted to be on the show Tuesday morning, and from our very public conversations on Twitter, we both knew how strongly our opinions differed on the treatment of Harry and Meghan pre and post the interview that has split the world."

"I hoped we could reach a place of understanding. It’s sad that we weren’t able to get there, but challenging his opinion was not an outrage. On this occasion, we have to agree to disagree. I didn’t want him to quit, but I did want him to listen.

"Personally, Piers has always support my growth. He’s given me advise on several occasions and for that I am grateful. I wish him well!"
