Piers Morgan in furious rant on Good Morning Britain over Meghan Markle but viewers are less than impressed

Piers Morgan is not one to bite his tongue and this time it was Meghan Markle back in the firing line.

The Good Morning Britain presenter hit out at the Duchess of Sussex after it was revealed that she is taking legal action alongside husband Prince Harry against the Mail on Sunday over claims it unlawfully published one of her private letters.

Piers , 54, branded their legal action as being "over the top" and "double standards" during Wednesday morning's show.

The controversial journalist and presenter also added that the situation "just smacks to me of having your case and eating it."

Co-host Susanna Reid tried to defuse the situation and stick up for Meghan by claiming what Piers said was "horrible".

"Ok, my personal experience of Meghan Markle was a bad one. So I'm not going to pretend that isn't the case," Piers retaliated.

Susanna said back: "She just ghosted you," to which Piers responded: "I'm not going to pretend to like someone."

Before adding to Susanna: "You like sucking up to the royals."

Viewers, however, we equally unimpressed with his rant, taking to Twitter to express their own views.

"#PiersMorgan getting so cross about Meghan! His rant this morning about her was disgusting," said one.

Another similarly echoed: "Piers Morgan behaviour this morning is disgusting. His bashing Megan yet again none of us know what goes on behind close door's between families."

In a lengthy statement published on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's official website on Monday (October 1), Harry said that the couple had no option but to take legal action after the "painful" impact of "relentless propaganda" against his wife from the British tabloid press.

The 35-year-old royal also referenced his late mother Dianna, Princess of Wales, in his statement.

"I've seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person.

"I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces."
