Piers Morgan hits out at Meghan and Harry's pledge to become carbon neutral

Piers Morgan has hit out at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry about they revealed their latest pledge concerning their Beverly Hills-based public organisation, Archewell.

The pair said that Archewell would 'reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030' but Piers doesn't seem too convinced.

Piers tweeted a comic that showed 'net zero' being written out by a plane exhaust flying above the city of Glasgow as well as tweeting: "Did they pledge this from aboard Sir Elton's jet or the Clooney one?" along with four laughing emojis.

The journalist has had a number of run ins with Meghan including when he walked off the Good Morning Britain set following an on-air row with weather presenter Alex Beresford after Meghan's Oprah interview, when she said she had been suicidal living in the UK.

Meghan also said that she had allegedly been asked about the colour of her son Archie's skin by a member of the Royal Family and Piers wanted to know who it was.

Piers stormed out of the studio as he said: "OK, I’m done with this, sorry, no, can’t do this."

Meanwhile, Alex called him 'pathetic' and 'diabolical'.

The TV segment at the time got the most amount of Ofcom complaints in TV history when it received more than 50,000 reports.

However, Ofcom ruled that Pier's remarks gave 'important context to viewers' as they decided not to sanction Good Morning Britain over the situation.

A spokesman for the regulator said: "This was a finely balanced decision. Mr Morgan's comments were potentially harmful and offensive to viewers, and we recognise the strong public reaction to them.

"But we also took full account of freedom of expression. Under our rules, broadcasters can include controversial opinions as part of legitimate debate in the public interest, and the strong challenge to Mr Morgan from other contributors provided important context for viewers.

"Nonetheless, we've reminded ITV to take greater care around content discussing mental health and suicide in future. ITV might consider the use of timely warnings or signposting of support services to ensure viewers are properly protected."

Piers called the verdict a 'victory' as he tweeted his response to the news in September and joked about getting his job back.

He wrote: "I'm delighted Ofcom has endorsed my right to disbelieve the Duke & Duchess of Sussex's incendiary claims to Oprah Winfrey, many of which have proven to be untrue.

"This is a resounding victory for free speech and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchios. Do I get my job back?"

Since leaving the UK, and stepping down from royal duties, Harry and Meghan set up their Beverly Hills public organisation Archewell for a variety of charitable purposes.

Their organisation runs classes, lectures, workshops, and retreats on topics relating to sport, mental health and culture.

They came up with the name Archewell by using their son's name Archie and since then Meghan also gave birth to their daughter Lilibet back in June of this year.
