Piers Morgan hits out at Channel 4's decision to axe Ant Middleton calling it 'absurd'

Piers Morgan has hit out at Channel 4 for 'firing' SAS Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton calling their decision 'absurd'.

Piers called into question the Channel's decision to severe ties with the former soldier saying they were 'spineless'.

He wrote: "Absurd that Channel 4 fired Ant Middleton for his opinions.

"He's an SBS special forces war hero, what did they think they were hiring - a shrinking violet choirboy?

"Such a spineless surrender to the PC Police. Ant's a top bloke - when he's not strangling me."

Piers who posed up a picture of Ant with his arms firmly clamped round his neck once called Ant the 'most brutal man' on television while Ant said there were 'no politics, no PC and cotton wool' in a war zone.

However despite Ant's thought that the PC culture was 'dying out and that there was a backlash', it appears that his past comments caught up with him as Channel 4 released a statement saying: "Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of SAS: Who Dares Wins. Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again."

Last year, the SAS: Who Dares Wins star faced criticism over his comments about the Black Lives Matter protests and Covid 19.

In June, he apologised after referring to Black Lives Matter protesters as "absolute scum" as he complained about the "extreme left" and the English Defence League's "extreme right" taking to the streets.

Ant Middleton said he was "anti-racist and anti-violence" after deleting the tweet.

The 40-year-old told followers on social media he had "decided it's time to move on from SAS Who Dares Wins UK".

He added: "Big respect to my fellow DS - it's been a journey I'll never forget. Thanks to everyone that took part and made the show what it is. Really excited about the future and what's coming this year."

Piers' decision to back the star was met with split opinion.

One said: "What his racist opinions surely you can't defend that!!"

Another added: "He’s a legend and I’m glad he’s not afraid to speak out. Respect to Ant."
