Piers Morgan hits back at Nigel Farage after friendship turns sour in bitter on-air spat

Piers Morgan has taken aim at Nigel Farage on Twitter after the right-wing politician lost his temper on Good Morning Britain earlier today.

The 56-year-old raged that Piers was "sinking into the gutter" after bringing up President Donald Trump's comments about injecting disinfectant to combat coronavirus.

Nigel had taken offence to Piers using the word "bleach", insisting that Trump hadn't said that and demanded that he "grow up" and "stop talking utter rubbish".

Later, Piers wryly hit back at Nigel in a tweet and shared a photo of Trump at the press conference standing next to a screen detailing the "best practices for every American".

Among the suggestions were "commonly known available disinfectants" which had in brackets "bleach & isopropyl alcohol".

He wrote: "Hi @Nigel_Farage , for your files. #Bleach."

US President Trump had been slammed by the medical community back in April after appearing to propose injecting disinfectant into the skin.

Piers pointed out the comment and referred to Trump suggestion to inject bleach into the skin.

Nigel branded his GMB interview the 'lowest grade one he'd taken part in in 20 years' (ITV)

Nigel went on to accuse Piers of "sinking to the gutter" and branded the interview the "lowest grade interview" he'd done in 20 years.

"[Trump] didn't talk about the word bleach," Nigel raged. "We are talking about the person who is going to become the leader of the western world."

Nigel snapped that he wasn't surprised GMB's ratings had gone down, to which Susanna branded 'fake news' (ITV)

"I don't think the president standing there and instructing people to inject bleach [is good]," Piers responded and when Nigel continued to insist that he hadn't said bleach, the clip of Trump was replayed.

Piers pointed out that disinfectant was bleach and Nigel continued to repeat that he hadn't emphatically said bleach.

Nigel snapped: "I'm not surprised that your viewers are going down."

Susanna Reid jumped in, pointing out: "They're not going down, they're going up! That's fake news!"

"This is the lowest grade interview I've done in 20 years," Nigel fumed. "I've got better things to do than this.

"Piers, play your silly games!"
