Piers Morgan hits back at Manchester United star Jesse Lingard on Twitter after punch jibe

Piers Morgan has hit back at Jesse Lingard after the Manchester United star joked he would punch the broadcaster.

In a interview with SPORTbible, the England winger was asked if he had to punch a famous person, who would it be?,  and the Reds academy graduate quickly replied Piers Morgan.

Lingard's reply was greeted by laughter in the studio, with the interviewer even saying that the answer "was popular in the room".

But now the Good Morning Britain host has hit back at the 26-year-old.

Taking to Twitter, Arsenal fan Morgan wrote: "Mate @JesseLingard - you’re a 5ft 7in, 128lb stick insect with the muscle power of a neutered Poodle. So maybe cut the Mike Tyson chat, yeah?".

Last week, the TV presenter and former newspaper editor was put in charge of leading the Rest of the World team to victory in Soccer Aid, the charity football match on ITV.

United legend Eric Cantona was among the star players and he came off the bench to help the Rest of the World come from 2-0 down to defeat England on penalties at Stamford Bridge.

Naturally after the match Morgan wanted to get a selfie with the United great.
