Good Morning Britain viewers had a giggle today when a cheeky guest had a pop at Piers Morgan during his day off.
Piers always has Thursdays and Fridays off (...part timer) so when David Abel was being interviewed today by Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard, he couldn’t resist to make a comment about the absent presenter.
David and his wife Sally joined the show live from a quarantined cruise ship in Yokohama, Japan after 10 people were confirmed to test positive for coronavirus.
Following their chat, Ben and Susanna said farewell to the couple, before David made his quip.
Ben said: “Keep in touch, let us know what happens and fingers crossed you can get off the ship as soon as possible.”
David replied: “Lovely to talk to you… and I’m so glad it wasn’t Piers.”
Ben chuckled and laughs could be heard from the ITV studio as Susanna put her head in her hands.
“Do you know what, in real life, he’s actually quite a nice person,” she insisted.
David smiled as he said: “I’m saying it jesting.”
Piers, who is in LA ahead of this year's Oscars ceremony, couldn’t resist having the last word as usual, and re-tweeted a video of the interview with a sarcastic comment.
“The feeling's entirely mutual, whoever you are…” he said.
Viewers were delighted by David’s comment.
One tweeted: “I was just about to tweet what a lovely couple they are then the husband said ‘lovely to talk to you and I'm so glad it wasn't Piers’ and I spat my morning cuppa out laughing.”
A second said: “Early morning shade thrown! So glad it wasn’t Piers.”
A third posted: “Another one doesn’t want to speak to @piersmorgan! That’s Boris, Meghan and now David on the flu cruise!”
