Piers Morgan hints he may leave Good Morning Britain with negotiations on future underway

He's by far and away the most talked about presenter on TV at the moment but Piers Morgan has cast doubt on his Good Morning Britain future.

Whether you love him or loathe him, there is no doubt that outspoken host Piers makes an impact everytime he is on air, pulling no punches when it comes to taking the Government to task over their handling of the coronavirus pandemic and isn't afraid of a on-air spat, with a memorable clash with rapper Dizzee Rascal two weeks ago.

On Monday, Piers let slip that he and regular co-host Susanna Reid were about to take a summer break, with the duo's last show on Wednesday including an interview with colleague Kate Garraway, with the I'm A Celebrity star set to give another update on husband Derek Draper, as he remains in a critical condition in hospital.

But Piers has now hinted that he could soon be taking a much more extended break from GMB, with 'negotiations underway'.

"Whenever you say 'We're off, we're leaving', people think it's forever," Susanna remarked but it was Piers' response that came as a shock.

He replied: "Good riddance!"I'm not actually leaving [at the end of this year], next year, possibly."

"Contract negotiations underway."

The bombshell sparked quite a reaction online, with viewers split on how they would feel about Piers walking away from the show.

Jumping the gun a bit, one fan tweeted: " just woke to the news you are leaving GMB, Please don't. The only presenter who really holds people to account and I want to see the interview between you and BoJO," and another posted: "Omg you are leaving GMB... what. You spoke the truth through out the pandemic. Well Done. Very Brave and truly Patriotic. You will be missed."

However, others sound like they'd welcome his departure with open arms, with one Twitter user reacting: " @GM B your presenters

@piersmorgan and @susannareid100 scaremongering is a disgrace I’m am so glad they are leaving for the summer, hopefully won’t come back."
