Piers Morgan GMB aftermath continues as director quits just five months after presenter

Piers Morgan has paid tribute to Good Morning Britain's Series Director after he announced he is leaving the ITV show.

Erron Gordon’s decision comes just five months after Piers sensationally quit his role as host the day after storming off set.

Taking to Twitter, Erron shared various photos of himself at work and wrote alongside them: "Personal News, After 13 years at @ITV and 7 as the Series Director of @GMB I am leaving the programme at the end of the year to take on an exciting new challenge.

"I’ve had an amazing time working with a brilliant team in front of and behind the camera and I am so proud of the programme I helped launch in 2014.

"I’ve had some incredible opportunities @ITV; launching @itvpeston, directing the prime time leaders debates, #LifeStories & exclusive interviews with @piersmorgan & President Trump as well as travelling the world. Not forgetting somehow getting a part in Bridget Jones Baby!"

He continued: "I’d like thank GMB Editor @NeilThompson62, Peston Editor Vicky Flind @flindv10 & ITV Daytime MD Emma Gormley for believing in me.

"The formidable studio crews that make me look good each day and our fabulous on air team. I’m looking forward to the next chapter and a lie in! (sic)," Erron added.

Piers was quick to retweet Erron's post and said: "The very best TV directors thrive off unpredictability, spontaneity & flying by the seat of their pants.

"Loved working with Erron because the more I tried to trip him up, the more he enjoyed it. A brilliant talent and ferociously loyal colleague & friend. Huge loss for @GMB."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
