Piers Morgan gets nearly 700 Ofcom complaints in just over a week

He's only been back at work for just over a week, but in that time, Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has already sparked close to 700 complaints to Ofcom.

Since lockdown began Piers has divided viewers over his heated interviews with MPs and furious outbursts against the Government and their reluctance to put people up for interview on GMB, despite the fact they appear on other show.

He has been the subjected of hundreds of Ofcom complaints, including many for his "humiliation" of MP Andrew Bridgen, who himself predicted that Piers' days on GMB could be numbered.

Piers' return to GMB after a week's break sparked Ofcom complaints after just a day of him being back on the show last week and now it has emerged that since then the 55-year-old has been at the centre of 681 complaints to the broadcasting regulator.

He has been at the helm of some controversial interviews since returning to week. Last week he refused to apologise for celebrity hairdresser Adee Phelan swearing live on air and has also been embroiled in heated exchanges with former New York mayor and a lawyer representing Thomas Lane, one of the police officers charged in relation to the death of George Floyd in America.

The Sun reports that it is the Guliani interview that has sparked the most viewer complaints to date, with 271. The Adee Phelan chat, which saw David Beckham's pal say the Government "needs to get their s**t in order" has so far received 191 complaints, while the interview with Earl Gray, Thomas Lane's attorney, has prompted 89.
