Piers Morgan gags and 'throws up' live on TV as he finally takes a bite of a Greggs vegan sausage roll after days of criticism of the hugely popular sell-out snack

Piers Morgan was filmed gagging and spitting up into a bucket on live tv after he finally tucked into a Greggs vegan sausage roll.

It comes days after the presenter took to social media to criticise the food item branding the bakery chain “PC-ravaged clowns" for the offering which has proved a smash hit among customers.

The presenter was handed a vegan sausage roll before telling viewers, that it “stinks.”

He then took a bite out of the sausage roll before screwing up his face and spitting the bite into the bin.

Meanwhile Susannah Reid can be heard saying that the vegan sausage roll is "delicious.”

The bakery chain has already shrugged off a furious verbal attack by Mr Morgan.

He said on Twitter that “nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage” in response to the official launch tweet.

Greggs then replied: “Oh hello Piers, we’ve been expecting you.”

He was then bombarded with abuse from angry vegans who took exception to his meat-loving stance.

The popular bakery was inundated with praise for the new product, with many saying they will become regular customers now that they have it on the menu.

One person described Greggs’ tweet as “magnificent trolling”. Others said they would buy one of items just to spite Morgan.

Available alongside the regular roll, Greggs' bestselling product, the new offering is completely free of animal products, replacing the sausage filling with Quorn, and wrapping it in 96 layers of puff pastry.

The vegan sausage roll is available in 950 selected stores across the country and costs £1.
