Piers Morgan fumes at lack of social distancing on board flight to Scotland

Piers Morgan has fumed at the apparent lack of social distancing on board a flight to Scotland amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Good Morning Britain presenter had been speaking to the show’s travel expert Simon Calder after easyJet resumed some flights as some lockdown restrictions in England were lifted, reports the Mirror.

Simon had revealed that he had paid much more than he normally would for the flight as he took Piers and Susanna Reid through the new process at the airport.

But the often-outspoken 55-year-old presenter was somewhat distracted by a plane from Gatwick to Glasgow in the background, where passengers appeared to be closer together than social distancing guidelines recommend.

Simon noted that the passengers on board had been obeying the rules in regards to the wearing of face coverings.

When he was asked about maintaining social distancing on board, he said: “No you absolutely can't. There's a couple of empty seats but you'll see it's quite crowded on board. Of course, everyone wearing masks-"

Piers interjected saying: "People might be incredulous - we're supposed to be respecting two metre social distancing.

"You guys on that plane are barely respecting two feet! How can easyJet be allowed to do that?”

Dr Hilary questioned the efficiency of wearing just a face covering on board (ITV)

"It's your choice!" Simon responded. "They're doing everything they can - they've got high efficient particulate air filters so the air is coming down here and it's going straight into the floor, they say.

"So therefore if anyone has any coughs or sneezes it's not going to affect me - that's the theory."

However Dr Hilary issued a big warning on the theory.

" Masks are questionable in terms of efficacy," Dr Hilary said, but admitted that it was a good thing to use if social distancing wasn't possible.
