Piers Morgan explodes as 'tone-deaf' government charge NHS staff for parking again

Piers Morgan slammed the "tone-deaf" government for announcing that they would be charging the NHS staff for parking once again.

The 55-year-old branded the plans "utterly disgusting" and accused Prime Minister Boris Johnson of "kicking the boot in".

At the beginning of the pandemic, parking fines issued to NHS staff while they were working at hospitals sparked outrage with the public.

The parking charges were subsequently scrapped, but it has been reported that workers will be charged again.

Referring to the prime minister's ill-timed remarks about care homes and blaming them for covid-19, Piers raged about the news about parking on Good Morning Britain.

"There was another sector that he forgot to kick the boot into," Piers fumed. "And that's the NHS workers!"

Pointing out that they had campaigned against parking charges for NHS workers.

"Hundreds of NHS workers are risking their lives for us," Piers fumed. "And their award is that they're going to charge all of our workers who are saving our lives for parking again."

He added: "Utterly disgusting."

Piers announced that they would be starting a new campaign to scrap the parking charges for NHS staff and Dr Hilary agreed, saying that he would be the first to sign it.

"There are no perks for NHS staff, they often miss out on their coffee break, lunch break," he said. "We need to support them!

He added: "I know so many nurses who have been attacked on the way to shifts."

"Once again, the government have done something thoughtless and heartless and the public backlash will be so intense that they will have to do a u-turn and look weak again," Piers raged.
