Piers Morgan doesn't regret fierce MP clashes on GMB but 'probably went too far'

Piers Morgan was grilled over his recent heated rows with government ministers on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, but he doesn't regret a thing.

The GMB host appeared on This Morning, and opened up about what he had learned about himself from the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown months.

Conversation quickly turned to his brutal on-air rows with MPs and his savage takedowns of Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

But Piers admitted he regrets nothing, saying as he was holding the government to account for the mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It's reported that, amid an increase in cases in England and the UK, over 40,000 people have died from the virus this year.

Since the heated clashes on GMB, many MPs and government ministers have been "boycotting" the series.

Piers said that Johnson, Hancock and other key figures have now avoided the show for 134 days, something that bothers him now more than ever.

With new lockdown rules coming back into place and specific areas bringing in strict measures, Piers said that now more than ever they need to be on the show to inform the public of what is happening.

Piers said: "I don't regret a damn thing that I did with those government ministers. I think they have been a total shambles with this pandemic, I have made no secret of it.

"I think so many more people died than should have died, what happened with our care homes is a national disgrace.

"I make no apology for holding their feet to the fire."

Piers called the government ministers 'gutless' (ITV)

Piers went on: "What I think is spectacularly gutless is these government ministers have avoided our show for 134 days... now we're seeing again very big decisions being taken right now.

"We're in a perilous moment in this pandemic again and they refuse to come on, and even talk to our viewers, inform them, educate them.

"That is a dereliction of their duties as government ministers. It is completely shameful and they shouldn't be allowed to do it."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
