Piers Morgan describes Boris Johnson as 'bumbling fool' in brutal outburst on Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan has described Boris Johnson as a ‘bumbling fool’ who ‘doesn’t know the rules’, in a ferocious monologue on Good Morning Britain today.

The TV host, sitting alongside Susanna Reid, called for urgent change in response to the Prime Minister’s confusion over the latest Covid-19 restrictions.

Yesterday (September 29), Boris Johnson issued an apology after he failed to clarify precisely what the new restrictions would mean for around two million people in the North East.

“If you’re somebody somewhere who’s had your business decimated or your education ruined by this man’s rules, and he not only doesn’t know the rules, but he also breaks the rules that he does know,” Piers Morgan said.

In response to a clip on screen which showed the PM attempting to perform woodwork at Essex College, in which he wasn’t wearing a face covering, Piers exclaimed: “No mask, no social distancing.”

“Everyone around him is thinking who is this drongo and what is he doing? He couldn’t even shave wood properly. He’s just a bumbling fool.

“It’s got beyond a joke. This man is running the country in the biggest crisis, healthwise and economically that we’ve seen in our lifetime and he’s a bumbling fool who doesn’t even know his own simple rule of six,” Mr Morgan’s rant continued.

“Something has to change, we can’t keep being in this rudderless position, with the captain of the Titanic taking us down”.

Responding to a question about the new rules in the North East yesterday, Boris Johnson made an error regarding where the ‘rule of six’ restriction applied.

"It is six in a home or in hospitality but not six outside," he said, despite the official regulations stating "you must not meet in a group of more than six, indoors or outdoors."

Mr Johnson swiftly issued a correction on Twitter with details about the North East restrictions.

Later in the programme, Mr Morgan even hit out at the show's health editor, Dr Hillary, after he said he felt 'a little bit of sympathy' for Mr Johnson.

Piers replied: “He’s the Prime Minister, Hilary. They are his rules. He says they’re easy.

“Stop defending this clown."

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister will lead a Covid-19 briefing later after the UK recorded the highest number of daily coronavirus cases since the outbreak began.

Good Morning Britain airs every weekday on ITV from 6am.
