Piers Morgan cruelly mocks Meghan Markle again after NTA nomination despite GMB exit

Piers Morgan took another opportunity to make a jibe at Meghan Markle's expense after he received a nomination for a National Television Award.

The former Good Morning Britain host has been nominated in the TV presenter category, alongside Holly Willoughby, Ant and Dec, Bradley Walsh and Alison Hammond.

His nomination comes despite him leaving GMB earlier this year after his controversial comments about Meghan.

But it seems Piers has no regrets as he mocked Meghan when he encouraged his fans to vote for him in the awards.

He called her "Princess Pinocchio", a cruel nickname he has called her in the past.

Piers also joked that he would send Meghan to collect the award on his behalf if he won.

He tweeted: "Most amused to finally be nominated for TV Presenter of the Year at the ⁦NTAs - though could be a tad #awks for ITV if I win for my work on @GMB.

"Might have to pull a Brando and send Princess Pinocchio along to receive it on my behalf..."

Piers was referencing Marlon Brando rejecting the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1973 for his performance in The Godfather.

He sent Native American actress Sacheen Littlefeather in his place, who stated that the actor "very regretfully" could not accept the award in protest at Hollywood's portrayal of Native Americans in film.

Piers stepped down from Good Morning Britain in March after his rant about Meghan caused huge controversy.

He had said that he didn't believe her when she shared in her interview with Oprah Winfrey that she had suffered from suicidal thoughts and alleged she was refused help from the Royal Family

The day after he made the comments, Piers clashed with Alex Beresford, who criticised him for his comments about Meghan.

Piers then stormed off set and just hours later it was announced that he had quit GMB.

After his comments aired, it emerged that over 50,000 people had complained, including the Duchess of Sussex herself.

It was later reported that Piers had been told to apologise or leave GMB, and he opted to quit.

After leaving Piers defended his right to free speech on Twitter, saying: "On Monday, I said I didn't believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview.

"I've had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don't. If you did, OK.

"Freedom of speech is a hill I'm happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I'm off to spend more time with my opinions."

Since then, Piers has continued to make a number of jibes about Meghan and Prince Harry, including calling for them to be stripped of their titles after their criticism of the Royal Family in interviews.
