Piers Morgan confirms when he will be returning to Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan has confirmed he will return to presenting duties on Good Morning Britain next week.

The 55-year-old has been absent from presenting on the ITV breakfast show this week after displaying a "mild symptom" of coronavirus.

The presenter shared news of his symptoms on his Twitter at the weekend, where he said he would not be presenting the breakfast show due to an "abundance of caution".

He said: "UPDATE: On medical advice, and out of an abundance of caution for a mild symptom that arose in past 48hrs, I've had a test for COVID-19 and so won’t be working on @GMB until I get the result back, which should be tomorrow."

His results came back negative, but he has yet to make a return to the popular show.

He had told his followers he would return to GMB "as soon as my doctor advises I'm OK to return to work".

Now, Piers has confirmed he will be back on the show on Monday.

Responding to a tweet begging for his return, Piers said: "Relax everyone, I’ll be back Monday."

The news sparked more than a thousand comments on Twitter.

Janine said: "Thank god it’s boring without you".

One fan commented: "Mum and I truly missed you".

Royce said: "Good we need you back Piers . To hold the fact dodgers to account !"

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am
