Piers Morgan confirms he will be replaced on Good Morning Britain next week

Piers Morgan has confirmed that he won't be on Good Morning Britain next week as he takes a week-long holiday.

Susanna Reid and Dr Hilary will also be taking a break and the journalist, 55, admitted that it had been a "long old haul" reporting daily on the coronavirus pandemic.

Piers was asked by Susanna whether he was going anywhere nice during the half-term and he quipped: "I'm going upstairs!"

Earlier, Piers confessed that his life "hadn't changed much" since lockdown.

He said: "I can't occasionally go to restaurants or go on planes... and we can actually come to work and we've probably been working much harder than we ever had. I haven't noticed much of a change."

However, Piers said that his sons' lives had been "massively" affected by lockdown.

He said: "For my three kids - my sons who are 19, 22 and 26 - it's a massive sea change."

Piers added: "My youngest son's at university and he's been doing online lectures and he said it's been working fine actually, he's got used to it.

"You get used to these things, don't you?'

However it was a different situation for his middle son Stanley, who has been training to be an actor.

He said: "My middle boy's a young actor, just come out of drama school. There's no acting going on! There are no theatres.

"It's very tough for young people. All of his class have come out of a top drama school, they're all about to burst into the world of acting and now they're all sat at home!"

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
