Piers Morgan claims he'd 'cut son out of his will' if he signed up for Love Island

Piers Morgan has claimed that his son has been asked to go on Love Island - but revealed he’d “cut [him] out of the will” if he signed up for the show.

The Good Morning Britain host has been vocal in his dislike of the ITV2 dating contest and told guest presenter Peter Andre that he finds the series “brain deadening.”

When Andre joked that he might be a secret fan as he seems to be up to date with all the latest drama from the show, Morgan revealed that his oldest son Spencer is “addicted” to the series.

“My oldest son is addicted to it, which I find really depressing,” he admitted, before revealing that the 25-year-old “has been asked to be on” the show.

“My sons get regularly asked to go on reality television,” he explained to co-host Susanna Reid.

“I’ve said, ‘no problem!’ They go ‘really Dad?’ I said ‘Sure, as long as you don’t mind being cut out of the will, not a problem.’

“And at that point, funnily enough, there’s a dramatic sea change in their attitude.”

“Suddenly the prize money doesn’t seem so appealing,” Reid added.

Morgan is also father to Stanley, 21, and Bertie, 18, with his first wife Marion Shalloe. He shares daughter Elsie with wife Celia Walden.

Spencer previously poked fun at his father’s hatred of the ITV competition when he shared a photo of a personalised Love Island water bottle on Twitter, prompting the presenter to respond with: “You’re not going IN there… are you?!!?!”

Speaking ahead of the start of series five in June, Morgan described the programme as “dimwits prancing about saying stupid things about each other” and branded the contestants “a contingent of brain dead zombies.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
