Piers Morgan cheers as young Man City fan with cerebral palsy completes Captain Tom-inspired walk

Little Ethan Beardow stole the hearts of Good Morning Britain viewers when he first appeared on the programme to say he was going to do a sponsored walk.

The youngster, who has cerebral palsy, was inspired by Captain Tom Moore who raised more than £30m for his 100th birthday by walking in his back garden.

Ethen, from Gorton, can’t stand unaided and gets around by crawling or using a wheelchair.

But he was determined to complete 100 laps of a 25m course with his walker before his 10th birthday.

Today, GMB hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid welcomed him back onto the programme by cheering him on as he finished his final lap for his birthday - which was very special for more than one reason.

Ethan, a Manchester City fan, was given permission to do his last steps at the Etihad Stadium, with the help of his proud mum and dad.

He is raising money for The Care Workers Charity, which has agreed to ringfence the money to help pay for the funerals of coronavirus victims.

His aim was to raise £15,000, but he’s smashed that figure, raising more than £63,000 so far.

After reaching the finish line, Ethan said he felt “amazing” to be at the football stadium, and said he was “speechless” when he was told he could finish his walk at his team's ground.

Speaking of Captain Tom, he said: “I think he’s amazing. I can’t believe he raised so much money.”

Ethan was then given a goodie bag from the club before being given the news he was going be a mascot once the Premier League starts up again and it is safe to do so.

Viewers were delighted for him, and tweeted their joy.

One posted: “What a little cutie! Well done to Ethan for smashing his target and supporting a great cause!”

A second wrote: “Go Ethan!!!! You amazing young man!!! Making the nation proud.”

A third said: “Ethan on #GMB, what an amazing character! Happy birthday little dude. And well done on how much money you have raised for such an important cause! Bless you.”
