Piers Morgan called 'fat chubster' by Susanna Reid during debate on Good Morning Britain

Susanna Reid cringed after she called co-host Piers Morgan a 'fat chubster' live on Good Morning Britain.

During a debate on the show between the two formidable hosts on how weight gain should be spoken about, Piers claimed he would 'put down the cheese' if he was called out more often about his weight.

After revealing he'd put on "at least half-a-stone to three quarters of a stone" during the coronavirus lockdown. Susanna also admitted she had put on a stone during the same period.

Piers Morgan looks on stunned after being called 'fat' and a 'chubster' by co-host Susanna Reid (ITV | GMB)

"I need to be shamed into getting it off.", claimed Piers before Susanna begrudgingly said: "Yes, you fat person, lose the weight."

Piers exclaimed: "Yes, thank you!", before Susanna added: "I mean, it's about time chubster."

Susanna's later comment drew laughing from the Good Morning Britain crew behind the cameras before a smiling Piers said: "Wow, wow."

After Susanna reminded Piers she did what she asked him, Piers added: "No, no, it's fine. I agree with you, you don't, do you?"

"No, it brings me out in hives just saying it!", replied Susanna.

Piers continues to give his reason as to why he things 'fat shaming' would work as Susanna cringes (ITV | GMB)

"That would genuinely have the right affect on me, I will go back today and probably eat a little less cheese and put the second bottle away..."

Shortly after, Susanna revealed she believes "sensible advice" would help people struggling with weight gain to lose it, before Piers shouted: "No! Stop chunking up, fatso, stop eating so many cakes. That's all you need to be told."

As Susanna continued to cringe, Dr Hilary Jones was brought into the debate and revealed how he was a teenager, being 'fat-shamed' by his fellow students, helped him to get into shape:

"I remember, probably when I was about 13, 14, I was carrying a bit of puppy fat, and the boys in my school made a few comments about it, and I was shamed into doing a bit more running, eating more healthily.

"It was that name calling of the way that I looked, that made me do that.

"Now, that worked for me... but I also understand what Susanna is saying, some people will react so badly to that, they'll go the other way and become anorexic.

"So that's why you need professional people to guide you and to do it the right way."
