Piers Morgan brands James Newman "a c***p singer" in shocking tirade over Eurovision result

Piers Morgan has come under fire on social media for a shocking tirade against UK Eurovision act James Newman, calling him "a "c**p singer" after a humiliating result in Rotterdam on Saturday.

Brit-winning songwriter James, who has penned songs for the likes of Little Mix, Rudimental and his younger brother John, was very low down in the bookies odds to triumph in the 2021 contest but even they didn't predict he would end the night languishing at the bottom of the leaderboard on the dreaded 'nil points.'

James, a former Newcastle Uni student, performed his track Embers to try and impress both the juries and viewers at phone but didn't get a point from either.

He was defiant as the Eurovision hosts revealed he'd received nothing from the public, standing up in the green room and being hugged by his dancers as other acts applauded around him.

Many angry UK fans have blamed politics, chiefly Brexit and our rapid coronavirus vaccine rollout for the dire result, with some calling on the UK to boycott Eurovision in the future.

But, shutting talk any talk of politics being the catalyst for James' humiliation, former GMB host Piers blamed James and his song, tweeting: "The UK didn't get 'nul points' in the Eurovision Song Contest because of some sinister revenge for Brexit. We got 'nul points' because we had a c**p song, performed by a c**p singer who gave a c**p performance. End."

While some of his Twitter followers agreed with his opinion that the song wasn't good enough, others blasted him for kicking a man when he was down, urging him to be kind.

One replied: "It’s recently been #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek so think how he would feel reading this. What happened to #BeKind. I’m in to minds about it being political. It’s degrading for the UK so show some support."

Equally angry at Piers' tirade, another reacted: "Don’t you think this young man feels bad enough?? Nasty comment. We are a very unpopular nation," and a third wrote: "Morgan's comment is utterly vile , cruel, and unnecessary. Why does he feel the need to kick someone when they are down?"

Urging Piers to be kind, fourth responded: "Be kind, I didn’t watch it last night but that’s not a kind thing to say. Just stop and think for a moment what hurt your words may cause."
