Piers Morgan brands Boris Johnson 'f**king disgrace' after he refuses to sack Dominic Cummings

Piers Morgan has slammed Boris Johnson for refusing to sack Dominic Cummings.

The Good Morning Britain host branded the Prime Minister a "f**king disgrace" after he defended his senior aide during Sunday's coronavirus press conference.

Cummings has been widely criticised for driving over 250 miles from London to his parents house in Durham when his wife had coronavirus symptoms, despite the government's own rules telling Brits to stay at home during the pandemic.

During tonight's live broadcast, Johnson said Cummings had "followed the instincts of every father".

Taking to Twitter soon after it aired, Piers ranted: "That was a f*cking disgrace.

"The rules were crystal clear & people missed weddings, births, deaths & funerals to respect them.

"For @BorisJohnson to stand there & bare-faced lie to save his lying hypocrite aide is a slap in the face to everyone who obeyed the rules HE enforced."

He continued: "Never seen Twitter so united - journalists, pundits, politicians, celebrities & the public all ENRAGED by what they just heard, regardless of their political persuasion.

"We all know people who've lost loved ones & couldn't be there for them because they obeyed the rules."

The conference came after the Mirror revealed Mr Cummings had defied lockdown rules for a second time, breaking rules he helped draw up.

But Johnson has refused to fire Cummings as he insisted the advisor hadn't broken the coronavirus rules.

He said: "I have had extensive face-to-face conversations with Dominic Cummings and I have concluded that in travelling to find the right kind of childcare, at the moment when both he and his wife were about to be incapacitated by coronavirus - and when he had no alternative - I think he followed the instincts of every father and every parent.

"And I do not mark him down for that."

He added: "I believe that in every respect he has acted responsibly and legally and with integrity."
