Piers Morgan brands Boris Johnson 'disgusting' over response to NHS workers who saved life

Piers Morgan branded Boris Johnson "disgusting" over his response to issuing a surcharge to the NHS workers who saved his life.

The 55-year-old raged on Good Morning Britain today as he addressed the Prime Minister's response during PMQs yesterday.

The immigration health charge is due to increase from £400 to £624 from this October.

He insisted that foreign NHS staff need to continue to pay huge fees for the service, even though many of them saved his life last month.

Johnson said that "we must look at the realities" and suggested that it was "very difficult in the current circumstances to find alternative sources".

Addressing the comments on GMB today while speaking to Ranvir Singh, he said: "What's interesting to me is that Boris Johnson is clearly trying to still play to their base of those Brexit voters, many of whom thought immigration was a big problem in this country.

"And yet there he was, standing bold as brass, and basically telling the people who saved his life - after banging on for weeks about how moved he was, how without them pumping oxygen, Jenny and Lewis from Portugal, he wouldn't be here today.

"He's actually slapping them in the face. And tonight when he goes out to clap outside his No. 10 door, clapping for the health workers and the care workers, what's he going to say to Jenny and Lewis?"

Susanna interjected: "He wants their money."

Piers agreed, continuing: "He wants their money, even though he himself had free treatment that saved his life from the health system.

"I think it's totally disgusting, honestly."
