Piers Morgan branded 'new man and hero' by Loose Women panel over Covid coverage

The Loose Women were full of praise for Piers Morgan today as they heaped praise on him for his coverage of the pandemic.

Good Morning Britain's resident firebrand Piers has made no secret of his anger at the government's handling of the crisis.

In fact, his brutal cross-examinations of ministers and officials have even landed him complaints at Ofcom - the broadcasting regulator ruling he had fulfilled his journalistic responsibility.

Janet Street-Porter, who's known Piers for many years, even branded him a "hero" during their chat.

Piers' GMB partner Susanna Reid appeared on the show to chat about her new documentary, Janet, Ruth Langsford, Judi Love and Saira Khan jokingly asking how she puts up with him.

After Janet had gushed over outspoken Piers, Susanna laughed: "You're right! I think a lot of people are seeing him differently.

"Previously, he was annoying and antagonistic and a massive wind-up, and he's still all those things, but he's also holding the government's feet to the fire.

"When we have the ministers on, he's holding them to account in a way that a lot of people think other outlets aren't doing."

Piers' fiery rants, savage interview technique and unfiltered opinions have all seen him clash with Covid-conspiracy theorists.

He's even been met by sick threats after he warned about the severity of the virus's second wave.

"Can all Covidiots please just unfollow me and f**k off," he bluntly wrote.

His questioning of Health Secretary Matt Hancock and care minister Helen Whately even sparked a flood of complaints to Ofcom.

Piers also accused the government of "boycotting" GMB to avoid his questions, something broken by Hancock in recent weeks.

*Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
