Piers Morgan branded a 'chubster' by Susanna Reid over lockdown weight gain

Piers Morgan was called a "chubster" by co-star Susanna Reid and jokingly mocked by Dr Hilary Jones after he admitted almost putting on a stone during lockdown.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, had been slamming people complaining about "fat-shaming" when he opened up about his own weight issues.

After admitting that he had "put on a bit of timber", he said that he needed to be "shamed" into losing weight.

Piers said: "Like a lot of people through lockdown, especially when you bust your ankle up, I have! I'm carrying too much weight! He's not wrong!"

Questioned on how much weight he had put on, he said: "At least half a stone to three quarters of a stone."

"I've put on a stone!" Susanna exclaimed.

"Right, so I need to be shamed to getting it off," Piers continued.

Susanna responded: "Yes, you fat person. Lose the weight! It's about time, chubster! Honestly."

Piers smirked, commenting: "Wow."

Susanna quickly felt bad about her jokey comments, saying: "You just told me to do!"

The pair went onto speak to Dr Hilary, who agreed that there "shouldn't be any pussyfooting" around weight issues as people needed to be helped.

But later, Dr Hilary found himself under fire as Piers mocked the doctor's "female" name.

Yet Dr Hilary wryly responded: "At least I'm not overweight!"

Do you agree with Piers' views on combating weight loss?
