Piers Morgan blasts Swansea primary school after tweet labels him a 'fascist pig'

Piers Morgan has criticised a Swansea primary school after a member of staff mistakenly used its Twitter account to call him an ‘obnoxious, ignorant, facist [sic] pig.’

Gowerton Primary school has said the offensive tweet was posted in error when a member of staff forgot to switch from the school's official account to their own personal one.

The tweet about Morgan was swiftly deleted but not before it caused a torrent of abuse from users and the presenter himself who replied: “You represent a PRIMARY SCHOOL, speaking like this on Twitter? WOW.”

Critics were quick to spot the tweet and have been chastising the school, branding it inappropriate for it to comment on political matters.

The school has since apologised for the incident.

A spokesperson for Gowerton School said: “We would like to sincerely apologise for the tweet.

“A member of staff believed they were tweeting in a personal capacity from their personal account but inadvertently made the post using the school account.

“As soon as the error was spotted the tweet was removed. We are learning the lessons of this incident to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

But some Twitter users were more sympathetic, commenting that it was likely a tweet posted in error.

The tweet was posted at 11pm following Morgan’s controversial appearance on QuestionTime where topics included Brexit and Donald Trump.

The school’s page, which had over 3,000 followers, has now been closed following the error.
