Piers Morgan blasts sick trolls who sent vile death threats to Gemma Collins

Piers Morgan has revealed some of the sickening trolling and death threats that Gemma Collins recently received, as he opened up on interviewing her for his series Life Stories.

The Good Morning Britain host revealed she faced cruel comments online after the announcement of her appearing on the show.

Piers hit out at those who have sent abuse to the reality star, reading out comments including messages about "wishing her dead" - with him calling for repercussions of such messages.

Piers feared the comments would hurt her, after discussing the horrific trolling she had received in the past too.

He showed a clip of one moment from Life Stories, as a tearful Gemma spoke about some of the sickening comments that have been sent to her over the years.

In tears, Gemma said: "It's hard to watch. You don't forget it but, that's the downside to fame.

"I'm a lot more comfortable now in my own skin."

Reflecting on the clip and the trolling he had witnessed online, Piers slammed the fact they were allowed to get away with it.

He said: "There's no regulations. If a newspaper did that or we did that today we'd be taken off air.

"Ofcom would intervene and we'd be taken off air, but nothing happens on Twitter to these morons who abuse footballers or Captain Tom.

"Gemma Collins, alright a more divisive or polarising figure, she shouldn't have to have people wishing her dead on a public platform, with no repercussions for people who do that.

"What do we do about these people who are normally anonymous or little egg heads, or smiley faces these days, accounts with seven or eight numbers after.

"Who is organising this, because it is orchestrated."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
