Piers Morgan blasts 'moron' cyclist on Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan has hit out at a cyclist who ignored social distancing rules and rode past health ministerr Edward Argar during a live interview.

The incident happened live on Good Morning Britain today (April 8), reports the Mirror.

The health minister was speaking to hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid about Boris Johnson's condition, as the Prime Minister remains in hospital.

He is said to be in a stable condition, having been taken to intensive care.

During the discussion a man cycled up behind the minister before posing with his phone.

Cyclist ignores social distancing rules during live interview

The cyclist rode up right behind the MP while appearing to take a video, which was not in line with the Government's strict social distancing rules which say people should stay two meters apart.

After the interview, Piers apologised to the health minister and slammed the cyclist.

He said: "I want to apologise for the complete moron that was cycling right up next to you with his phone during that interview.

"You may not have even been aware of it. He was ignoring all social distancing rules, trying to - I guess - make a little celebrity of himself.

"Morons like that are literally costing lives and i just want to say how sorry I am that that idiot did that to you in the interview."

Health Minister Argar replied: "Well, Piers, that's not your fault.

"What I would say is we're standing here, very much observing those social distancing rules, and what I would say to that individual I would say to everyone. I know this is hard, it really is hard - the stay at home instruction - but it is saving lives.

"By staying at home, we are saving lives."

He added: "People who don't do it, people like those, put others at risk."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
