Piers Morgan blasts Boris Johnson's 'disrespectful' hair and compares it to Worzel Gummidge

Piers Morgan has taken aim at the Prime Minister's hair, branding his "messy" locks as "disrespectful".

During Tuesday's instalment of Good Morning Britain, the outspoken TV presenter wasn't shy about vocalising how he felt about the way Boris Johnson's hair looked during his statement from No 10 last night.

Boris was "disrespectful" to make a public address without styling his hair, Piers said.

Turning to his fellow presenter Susanna Reid, he claimed to have attended parties where he had seen the PM deliberately mess up his hair for the "Boris look".

It wasn't long before Piers began taking aim at Boris' family - including girlfriend Carrie Symonds - as to why they had not cut his hair for him, as hairdressers remain closed due to lockdown.

Co-host Susanna Reid suggested: "She's a bit distracted at the moment," alluding to the couple's new baby.

The screen then cut to a side by side comparison of scarecrow Worzel Gummidge and the Prime Minister on the screen.

"What is going on with the Prime Minister's hair?" Piers quipped.

"I know it may seem very trivial, but the rest of us, our wives, our partners, people we're with, have bothered to get the scissors out and give us a little trim.

"Having the Prime Minister coming out like Worzel Gummidge... And I was told by sources close to the Prime Minister that he hasn't seen a barber since early March, he has really fine hair and apparently brushing doesn't really tame it.

"It's not disrespectful, it's because hairdressers aren't open till July, well that's fine but someone in that house must be able to trim it.

"Carrie? Carrie Symonds? Could she do it?"

"She's a bit distracted at the moment," replied Susanna.

"It takes 10 minutes," continued Piers.

"I don't want the Prime Minister of this country to look like Worzel Gummidge, and I don't really buy the thin hair brushing thing.

"Because when he bothers to brush it, it looks quite kempt, we've seen that over the past few weeks.

"And some days he just can't be bothered, and I've actually seen him at parties deliberately ruffle it, to create the 'Boris look'."

He added: "Brush your hair, it's just basic courtesy."
