Piers Morgan banned from Government briefings and he claims he knows why

Piers Morgan has confirmed he is banned from the Government's daily briefings and he knows the reason why.

Since lockdown began Piers has divided viewers over his heated interviews with MPs and furious outbursts against the Government and their reluctance to put people up for interview on GMB, despite the fact they appear on other shows like BBC Breakfast.

He has been the subjected of hundreds of Ofcom complaints, most recently for his "humiliation" of MP Andrew Bridgen, who himself predicted that Piers' days on GMB could be numbered.

And, while Piers has returned to GMB this week after a week's break - with his return sparking Ofcom complaints - he said he is still banned from the Government's press conferences.

Piers spoke out about his ban during an interview with Bournemouth East MP Tobias Ellwood. Responding to one of Piers' frustrations, Ellwood said: "It's a question for Piers to raise at the briefing - I look forward to seeing him at 5 o'clock.!

But Piers replied: "I would love to but I'm not allowed to do that because your government preaches about freedom of speech and then spends all its time suppressing it.

"Nobody like me is allowed to go to the briefings and ask difficult questions because the government doesn't want to answer them - and shame on them."
