Piers Morgan at centre of £10 million bidding war between Murdoch and GB News

It’s Good Yawning Britain for motormouth Piers Morgan as TV moguls clamour to sign him up.

The unshaven presenter looked tired but relaxed, despite being at the centre of a £10million bidding war.

The 55-year-old is being wooed for his services after he stormed out of his Good Morning Britain job last week over a row about Meghan Markle.

But work seemed to be the last thing on his mind on Friday as he strolled near his London home in grey jogging bottoms and trainers.

Piers, on an estimated £3million a year at ITV, may front Rupert Murdoch’s upcoming “opinionated” News UK TV venture or become a star feature of his US network, Fox News.

Meanwhile GB News chairman Andrew Neil thinks Piers could be a ratings winner for his channel, which launches this year.

Sources say Piers is considering a return to the States, where he fronted his own show on CNN for three years.

Music mogul Simon Cowell is expected to relaunch his TV empire this year after X Factor was canned and knows Piers, who has been a Britain’s Got Talent judge, could be big draw for viewers.

The mega offers come after Piers refused to apologise on air for slamming Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview.

He insisted he didn’t believe anything she had said, including that she felt suicidal while she was still a working member of the Royal Family.

A TV source explained: “He has had millions of pounds worth of offers. He turned GMB into a ratings hit, it seems everything he touches turns to gold.

“People love his honesty, even the people that don’t like him, they can’t help but be interested in what he says.

“Some of the offers have hit the £10million mark, and it seems he may be able to land exactly what he wants.”

Last week the Duchess of Sussex, along with 41,000 other people, complained to Ofcom about his comments on GMB.

Piers quit after an on-air bust-up with weatherman Alex Beresford.

He celebrated his departure with champagne, and the next morning emerged from his £6million West London townhouse declaring: “I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion.

“If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly-held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out with in that interview, so be it.”

Since he quit, ITV’s market value has fallen by £200million while GMB has lost half a million viewers.

A petition calling for his return to the ITV morning show had 227,000 signatures by tonight.

His sensational resignation on Tuesday was seen by more than two million viewers, with GMB beating its rival BBC Breakfast for the first time since its April 2014 launch.
