Piers Morgan announces he will be taking a break from Good Morning Britain after a busy few weeks

Piers Morgan has revealed he will be taking a break from his hosting duties on ITV's Good Morning Britain.

He announced the news during today's episode of the show, following an exhausting few weeks.

He also announced that his co-host Susanna Reid and healthcare specialist Dr Hilary Jones will be away for all of next week's episodes too.

Piers told viewers: "Well we have an extraordinary thing where myself, Susanna and Dr Hilary, we're actually going to have a week off."

Piers added: "We're going to have half-term off next week even though there is no half-term."

"Also it has been a long old time and we're all feeling a bit..." He continued.

He then pretended to faint, to reflect his exhaustion from the past few busy weeks on the programme.

"Well, sorry, the people will play the world's smallest violin," Susanna said.

"It's so you can launch a full investigation into who whacked the back of your car," joked Susanna.

"Are you going anywhere nice for your holidays, Mr Morgan?" she continued to her co-presenter on Wednesday.

"I'm going to go upstairs to my top room," Piers joked, with Dr Hilary seen giggling.

Piers and Susanna will host the show on Thursday, May 21, before being replaced by Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh on Friday, May 22.
