Good Morning Britain viewers were left fuming as Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid clashed with medic Dr Hilary Jones.
On this morning's show, the presenters were discussing the latest coronavirus lockdown measures which will see pubs close at 10pm.
During the segment, Piers and Susanna then accused the government's scientific advisors of "scaremongering" after they released a projection of 50,000 cases a day.
Piers rubbished the claim, saying: "Applying exactly the same method, the entire population will have had COVID-19 AND 11.5million of us would be dead before Christmas Day."
Dr Hilary Jones was forced to defend the figures after Piers and Susanna criticised the specialists.
Piers appeared to press the doctor on his answers before disagreeing with the medical advisor.

While arguing the figures were a worst-case scenario, Dr Hilary also suggested that the high amount of cases was also very much possible.
Susanna then suggested that the prediction was to "scare the living daylights" out of the country.
"Why put up a graph that shows such potentially catastrophic news for people and say, 'But it's not a prediction'?" she quizzed.
GMB viewers were far from impressed at how the presenters shouted over Dr Hilary, with many taking to Twitter to express their frustration.
"Dear God- will they stop shouting at Dr Hilary please? #GMB," penned one fan.
"Piers and Susanna are taking their frustrations out on Dr Hilary this morning, let him speak #gmb," vented another viewer.
A third wrote: " #gmb @gmb Pier & Suzanna Please shut up let Dr Hilary Jones speak he is the man with the knowledge not u therefore let him continue then ask the questions interrupting is absolutely appalling from u both I know you love the sound of ur own voices this info is vital 4 every1."
"Omg what dont u understand ...not this again ...stop arguing with Dr Hilary and trying to catch him out," fumed another.
Tensions were evidently high on today's show as the government geared up to make major announcements in response to the country's soaring cases.
