Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid say goodbye to GMB in emotional final show

Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid shared an emotional goodbye as they marked their departure from Good Morning Britain for the summer break.

As today's show came to an end, the television hosts celebrated their time on air with a hilarious montage of their best moments.

Piers had explained that the clip was inspired by a troll, who had branded the duo 'Shouty and Pouty'.

The fiery television presenter admitted that they actually quite liked their nicknames, as did the rest of the Good Morning Britain team.

Piers explained: "Our brilliant team upstairs decided to commemorate this - because we thought we look like a couple of hot detectives at the top of our game."

What followed was a collection of the pair's best bits, including plenty of insults and awkward on-air moments.

It ended with a clip of Susanna saying: "You for once need to pipe down."

As the cameras panned back to the hosts this morning, Piers added: "Well we are going to pipe down, because it's been a very long year and we are going to take a little break."

He added: "We want to thanks viewers for all the feedback you've given us, a lot of good feedback or the not so good feedback.

"But you know what, we take all feedback, that's why we live in a democracy - we're allowed to have an opinion," Piers joked.

The duo went on to pay thanks to their viewers and staff across the television studios.

Susanna also giggled as she gave a special mention to the political producers at GMB who were tasked with calling government staff ahead of each show to check whether politicians would appear that day.

Piers also added that the government can just "grow a pair, if they want to run the country".

Before they went off air, both the television hosts also gave a special nod to their fellow presenter Kate Garraway after she returned to work with a moving interview amid her husband's hospital battle.

"Thank-you to the viewers, have a good summer, try and get a break. It's been a tough time for everybody," Piers told fans.

He added: "Shouty and Pouty are off."

Good Morning Britain's television duo will return to screens in September.
