Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid read out names of 105 NHS heroes who have died from coronavirus

Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid paid a touching tribute to the 105 who have died while working on the NHS and social care frontline.

The Good Morning Britain presenters made the touching gesture on the ITV programme today.

With the screen behind them lit up with the faces of those who had died and gave their name and what they did.

They finished the tribute with footage from yesterday's minute silence to recognise the work that the NHS had done.

GMB cut to an ad break and when it returned, Piers said that, upon reading the names, it was clear how diverse the NHS and care sector is.

"Can I say, one thing people have spotted there is how extraordinarily multicultural and diverse both the NHS and social care system is," Piers pointed out.

"Absolutely, the NHS would fall apart without them," Dr Hilary Jones agreed, admitting the tribute had made him feel "emotional".

Dr Hilary said: "When I watch that roll call of honour, I felt emotional, I felt very humbled and I think very proud to consider what they represent what they've done in their careers.

"I was also moved by the fact that we need to understand why some people, with mixed ethnicities, different age groups and different roles in this fight in coronavirus why some get this disease so severely."
