Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid laugh off reports of a backstage 'war'

Piers Morgan has rubbished claims he is parting ways from Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain.

On Monday morning the host addressed speculation that the presenting partners are going their separate ways after reports suggested Morgan’s contract is up for renewal at the end of the year.

The 54-year-old and Reid, 48, appeared on the cover of Woman's Own magazine this week, with a headline claiming that "it's over" between the pair.

The article claimed the duo are "at war" behind the scenes and said Morgan had angered ITV bosses for "criticising the Duchess of Sussex".

Morgan responded to the reports with mock outrage towards the GMB staff, as he joked that a team member had "leaked" the story.

"What is fascinating is despite the revelation, the question becomes, who leaked this?" he asked.

The broadcaster continued to read out snippets from the magazine, which he said he found in the ITV studio offices this morning before going on air.

He added: "Someone had marked up some of the more contentious, allegations. Let's leave them at the moment as unconfirmed speculation."

However, Morgan ended up concluding that he couldn't "confirm or denying" that there is tensions between himself and his co-host, as Reid added: "I hate you."

ITV recently confirmed that Good Morning Britain is due to get an extended time slot in the new year, adding half an hour in an overhaul of the broadcaster's morning schedule.

From January 6 2020, Good Morning Britain will be extended by half an hour to run from 6am until 9am.

Lorraine will move to 9am, and will be followed by This Morning at 10am, which has also been extended by 30 minutes. Loose Women will still air at 12.30pm, ending at 1.30pm.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV weekdays from 6am.
