Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid in FURIOUS on-air spat: 'You're deluded!'

Susanna Reid branded Piers Morgan “deluded” after they became embroiled in a furious on-air spat over gifted children.

The Good Morning Britain duo were at loggerheads for nearly 10 minutes after watching a clip of a child table tennis champion in China.

Morgan sparked debate after joking he wants to send his seven-year-old daughter Elise to lessons in a bid to turn her into a “champion”.

“When I get home my daughter is going straight to table tennis lessons five hours a day,” he said. “Why would you not want your child to be a champion?”

A horrified Reid said: “Can we not let children be children? Your daughter who is not like that at table tennis is perfectly happy – you wouldn’t want to drive her like that.

“He’s so competitive he sees a child on Twitter and wants his to get good at that sport.”

Morgan argued children love “being challenged and to win and compete,” and urged youngsters to try and be good at everything.

Reid slammed his “deluded” way of thinking and encouraged children to “just enjoy your life”.

She said: “It’s exhausting in your world. You are deluded. I'm glad you're not the father of my children.”

Morgan continued: “Our kids are being driven by soft parents and being mollycoddled. Kids like being challenged and to win and compete and the taste of failure because winning tastes better.”

Reid then mocked him by humming Land of Hope and Glory and accusing him of glorifying a bygone era and wanting to ‘bring back the British Empire’

His latest outburst comes a day after he threw down his earpiece and refused to listen to show bosses telling him to wrap up.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am
