Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid immediately clash on GMB return over Harry and Meghan

They had barely settled back into the Good Morning Britain hot seat and Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were already bickering.

The presenters were back on the ITV news programme on Monday morning after a week off last week for half-term.

And they're hitting the ground running with news dominated by Boris Johnson's plans to unveil his 'roadmap' out of lockdown later today.

But also among the morning's chatter was the latest development in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's exit from the royal family.

It was confirmed on Friday that Harry and Meghan will not be returning as working members of the royal family after they quit as senior working royals in March last year when they moved to California.

This means that the couple, who are expecting their second child, will not hold on to their military, Commonwealth and some other patronages, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

This lead to a discussion on today's GMB as to whether Prince Harry should "surrender his right to the throne".

They were debating whether Prince Harry should still be in line for the throne (ITV)

The 36-year-old is still sixth in line to the throne with dad Prince Charles, brother Prince Williams and his children all ahead of him.

And the debate, with various newspaper journalists, caused an early morning clash between Piers and Susanna.

Piers argued that the couple did not have to tell the world they're expecting another child after a privacy court battle.

As he gave his reasons, Susanna tried to interject: "But Piers you're..." before Piers raised his hand and said: "Hang on..."

But Susanna hit back: "Hang on? If I hang on you will continue talking forever," as she let out a heavy sigh.

"All those people that they banned, conveniently, were suddenly allowed to use a picture that promoted their brand," Piers argued.

"But do you not understand the difference between them wanting some control over what is released to the public," Susanna attempted to ask before Piers waded in: "It's hypocricy."

Susanna went back: "It's boundaries."

"You're talking to four journalists who don't agree with you," Piers said as he turned to Susanna to add: "And you're supposed to be a journalist. How can you think that?"

Susanna quickly pulled a face at her co-host and screeched: "Because I'm not someone who just thinks what everybody else thinks."

The pair then continued to bicker as to whether the royal couple have, or should have, control over their own privacy.
