Piers Morgan and Gary Lineker get personal in epic Twitter row over Brexit

Piers Morgan and Gary Lineker have been embroiled in yet another epic Twitter spat - this time over the current Brexit situation.

The row kicked off when Match of The Day presenter Gary aired his views on the news that the government is to extend the suspension of parliament into October - two weeks before the UK is set to leave the European Union.

Outspoken remainer Gary tweeted to his 7 million followers: "The government’s argument that they’re doing this for democracy is remarkably undemocratic."

Long-time sparring partner Piers then quipped back: "Says the man who has howled for 3yrs that we should ignore the result of a democratic vote..."

Gary, 58, then told the Good Morning Britain host: "Never have i said that we should ignore the result. That indeed would be undemocratic.

"We could though look at the crooked, lying nature of how it was sold to us back then by the elite now dictating (literally) and decide as a democratic country if that’s still what we want."

Piers, 54, then responded with another personal dig at Gary.

"Mate, it doesn’t get more elite than you...as BBC licence fee payers know to our cost," sniped Piers.

His comment came after Gary headed the list of the BBC's top earners again this year with a salary of £1.75million per yer.

Refusing to back down, Gary fired: "Mate, it doesn’t get much more elite than ostentatiously showing off your wealth (you constantly tell me you earn way more than me) with a deluge of pictures by marauding, around the Côte d’Azur on a yacht."

Piers recently shared a snap of him enjoying a boozy brunch in Saint Tropez alongside Lord Alan Sugar and Dame Joan Collins.

He joked the three of them were having a 'Prorogation Pow-Wow' at celeb haunt Club 55.

Piers hit back at Gary: "I don’t pretend not to be in the elite... and it’s not my fault I earn far more than you, it’s my talent," followed up with a sassy kiss emoji.
