Piers Morgan and Dr Hilary clash on Good Morning Britain over 'defending' Boris Johnson

Piers Morgan furiously called out Dr Hilary Jones claiming he needs to 'stop defending' Boris Johnson.

Piers and the resident Good Morning Britain health correspondent clashed after Dr Hilary said he felt sorry for the Prime Minister, claiming Boris Johnson has a lot to remember in regards to all the different rules and regulations in many areas of England.

The debate followed the Prime Minister having to Tweet out an apology to people in the north-east of England after giving unclear instructions to new lockdown regulations which took affect yesterday.

Piers' co-host Susanna Reid was thrust into the middle of the clash and attempted to break up the conversation between the two as the atmosphere became tense.

In the video above, Piers exclaims: "He's the Prime Minister Hilary, they're his rules!

"He says they're easy!"

Susanna's attempts to get Piers to calm down were futile as he said: "It's a massive great, great swathe of his country, it affects millions of people..."

"Including Dominic Cummings.", added Susanna before Piers said to Hilary: "Stop defending this clown Hilary!"

Hilary claimed he wasn't defending the Prime Minister: "I'm not defending him, I'm just saying, it is complex...

"I think people understand the policies, I think its the minutia of the detail in certain areas which confuses people."

Piers hit back with: "I don't think people have a clue", as Susanna added: "Well, the Prime Minister doesn't!

The tension rumbled on as the GMB producers showed a clip of the Prime Minister shaving wood at Essex College, something Piers claimed he should be fined for as he didn't adhere to social distancing rules or wear a face mask.

Hilary added: "Well will say this is work.", something else Piers wasn't happy about:

"So that's exempt? So the Prime Minister of this country doesn't need to wear a mask? Doesn't need to social distance?"

After the break, Dr Hilary returned and agreed the safety guidelines should be followed in work places as well.

Good Morning Britain returns at 6am every weekday morning on ITV.
